Payroll Specialist / Financial Planning Analyst - Onsite

Position Summary

The Payroll and Financial Planning Analyst plays a key role in the GM Performance Power Units division of the Cadillac F1 team’s People Operation department, responsible for end-to-end payroll processing and HR-related financial forecasting. This role supports GMPPU’s compensation strategy by driving payroll accuracy, analyzing labor costs, and partnering with both People Operations and Finance to project expenses related to employee compensation, benefits, recruiting, and OEM vehicle programs. This analyst is the subject matter expert for workforce financial planning and a strategic partner in workforce cost optimization.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Processing

  • Administer bi-weekly payrolls for salaried and hourly employees across GMPPU
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. federal and state payroll regulations, international pay practices and company policies
  • Coordinate with People Operations for payroll cutoffs, auditing, retroactive adjustments, and off-cycle payments
  • Maintain strong relationship with payroll vendor and ensure accurate payroll reporting (e.g., earnings statements, tax filings, wage garnishments)
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and answer employee inquiries in a timely and professional manner
  • Support payroll system configuration updates in Dayforce HCM (or applicable platform)
  • Establish auditing procedures and practices to ensure accuracy for each payroll cycle, to include validation of proper state tax allocations and notices for employees as well as for overall organizational compliance.
  • Develop robust auditing procedures to ensure accuracy with needed reporting and year-end.
  • Enters payroll, benefits, and related data into all systems, and maintains information system database; enters data, processes transactions, validates data, and compiles documentation.
  • Ensure accuracy in processing payroll transactions, including salary adjustments, bonuses, and deductions.
  • Process and oversee all payroll processing, including reviewing employee timesheets, supervisor approvals and creating the general ledger report for accounting.
  • Identifies and researches payroll issues and recommends solutions; prepares and distributes required reports.
  • Work with HR to model bonuses and long-term incentive programs and forecasting of programs.

Financial Forecasting & Workforce Planning

  • Partner with Finance to build and maintain compensation and benefits forecasts by department and function
  • Lead monthly and quarterly reporting for actuals vs. forecast across HR spend areas (wages, bonuses, benefits, recruiting, relocation, vehicles)
  • Work with People Operations to track changes in headcount and support modeling for new hiring plans and restructures
  • Analyze trends in overtime, incentive compensation, and benefits utilization to support decision-making
  • Provide financial input for workforce scenario planning (e.g., ramp-up/down scenarios)

OEM Vehicle Program Oversight

  • Forecast and track expenses related to employee vehicle programs
  • Partner with HR and Finance to manage taxable benefits associated with company-provided vehicles
  • Ensure vehicle-related payroll deductions, gross-ups, and imputed income are accurately processed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or related field
  • 5 years of payroll and/or HR financial planning experience; experience in motorsports or automotive industry is a plus
  • 3 years of experience in multi-country or expatriate payroll and benefits administration familiarity (United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, France, etc.).
  • 3 years of hands-on management of multi-state payroll and compliance reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll systems (Dayforce HCM preferred) and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, financial modeling)
  • Experience with quarterly and end-of-year payroll tax filings
  • Proven ability to analyze and present payroll and expense data for budgeting and financial decision-making
  • Experience with forecasting tools and payroll compliance regulations
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work cross-functionally with People Ops, Finance, and leadership

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
