Overview:
PURPOSE OF POSITION: Primary purpose is to provide translation and interpreter services, both written and oral to Spanish speaking patients, their families and staff throughout the clinic. When not interpreting incumbent will perform other duties in the clinic as assigned including clerical tasks, transporting and patient care.QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Associates degree or technical training as an interpreter preferred. Requires a diploma or GED.Certification: Certification as a medical translator required.Experience: One year or more of experience in a health care or human services setting.License: N/AJob Knowledge: Must demonstrate a fluency in the Spanish and English languages. Knowledge of medical terminology and interpreting and translating skills desired.Skills Required: Must pass a written Spanish medical terminology assessment and interpreting skills evaluation. Must also have excellent customer service and communication skills. Strong medical terminology background desired.Physical Requirements: Good general health. Must be able to bend, stoop, and reach. Frequent standing and/or walking throughout shift required.Working Conditions: Clean, well-lighted and ventilated work area. Position requires mostly day shifts but also requires availability on all other shifts. Weekend work may be included.
