POSITION: Visual Arts Specialist
DEPARTMENT: Youth Services
REPORTS TO: Community School Director
SALARY: $23 per hour (15 hrs/wk)
DATES: November 2022– June 2023
SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 3p-6pm (This position is performance based and is also contingent on funding availability)


JOB SUMMARY:
As part of our Youth Services Department’s vision: all Youth Services Staff will assist in promoting growth, leadership and positive self-image in all young people at all of our Grand Street Settlement sites. Our Visual Arts will assist in implementing and facilitating High School youth to create and beautify projects through Visual Arts. This position is based on youth interest.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma required; College Degree Preferred
  • Must have 3 years’ experience working with high school/youth development field
Must have up to 3 years’ experience in Visual Arts (not limited to Drawing, Painting, etc.)
  • Candidate must be very responsible; organized & demonstrate positive communication skills
  • Ideal candidate is personable, energetic, & enthusiastic
  • Review Background Check; 3 Reference Check; Physical w/ updated TB Test

  • Candidates must be able to communicate effectively with all students while remaining professional at all times and be able to motivate the students while setting an example in all areas, including timeliness, attendance and most importantly, professionalism

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed oral or written instructions

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for supervising all participants particularly during tutoring
  • Responsible for maintaining safe space in an organized and clean fashion
  • Chaperone youth group during trips and other field activities
  • Administrative duties includes: follow up calls to parents
  • Attend all required department/agency meetings and/or training
  • Maintain program supplies and proper use of all
  • Help enforce all rules and regulations and codes of conduct
  • Other duties as assigned Ensure Safety
  • Must be able to supervise a group of children and participate in activities and trips; provide and maintain a safe working environment
  • Maintain adequate supplies in first aid and safety kits
  • Adhere to COVID-19 protocols
  • Maintain medical and emergency contact information for each participant
  • Responsible for maintaining daily log of all incidents/ injuries
  • Prepare attendance reports and other reports as required
  • Know and adhere to all regulations and procedures outlined in safety plan
