What are the responsibilities and job description for the Master Diesel Mechanic - Fowlerville position at Granger?
Success in this position includes the following:
- Be constantly curious and approach all repairs with spirit of discovery and problem solving, working through diagnostic trees and symptoms to uncover true root causes and long-term solutions (what is the real reason the truck is responding that way?)
- Approach preventive maintenance and repairs as opportunities to identify and address all potential issues before they become roadside breakdowns and eliminate repeat repairs.
- Enjoy learning technology, including diagnostics, paperless shop, inventory management and camera resources, and embrace the key role it plays in
all granger shops. - Recognize safety, including personal safety, safety of the driver or equipment operator and safety of the communities we serve, must always come first.
Accountabilities include the following:
- Lead efforts on the most complex repairs and troubleshooting
- Utilize software, schematics, outside vendor support and any other resources to identify the root cause of failure and correct solutions
- Complete light and heavy-duty transmission repair and overhaul
- Perform advance diagnosis and repairs of ECM’s TCM’s and ACM’s
- Perform engine overhauls and swaps
- Effectively use the RTA software system to access work orders, track time, enter appropriate line items for parts and additional work as needed and document detailed notes regarding repairs and all items identified.
- Examine safety devices on equipment and adjust, repair or replace ad needed, reporting all non-functioning systems to supervisor immediately
- Fabricate and weld as needed to complete repairs
- Keep management informed of safety, operator and equipment observations and concerns utilizing continuous improvement mindset and assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes
- Mentor and educate fellow associates
- Keep current with Department of Transportation regulations regarding daily inspections and safety standards
Schedule:
- 7:00am - 5:00pm (or as needed)
- Monday-Friday (occasional Saturdays)
Qualifications include the following:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- CDL B with air brakes or Chauffeurs OR ability to obtain and a good driving record
- Advance diagnostic capabilities. Mastery of all diagnostic software (Tech Tool, Cummins Insight, JPRO, Allison, Etc.)
- Advance knowledge of aftertreatment systems tier 4
- Ability to perform physical requirements of position and pass a physical and drug screen including marijuana (pre-hire and random)
