Greenwich Country Day School seeks a Lead Athletic Trainer to start August 2022. This full-time position will report to the Athletic Director and work with the staff of trainers to provide care for student athletes involved in our grade 6-12 interscholastic sports program. This is a 10-month position with weekend and evening work, as required. Successful candidates will possess a passion for and dedication to fostering the development of a lifelong love of physical exercise and instilling a value of healthy lifestyle in children of this age group.
Responsibilities Include:
- Develop plans for providing athletic training coverage at all interscholastic athletic events
- Assist in pre-participation physicals, concussion baseline testing and training of coaches
- Assist in yearly review of emergency action plans
- Collaborate with the Athletic Director and Athletic Leadership Team on medical advice and protocols for the physical education and athletic programs
- Establish positive working relationships with designated team physicians and school nursing staff
- Complete (school systems) policy training
- Maintain adequate medical records on all injuries and rehabilitation procedures
- Proper maintenance of equipment and facilities
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in related field or demonstrated professional competency
- Must be BOC certified and hold a Connecticut State License
- Minimum of 3-years of athletic training experience, working with children in this age group
- Demonstrated knowledge of a broad range of medical problems
- Assessment and evaluation skills
- Ability to think critically and make independent decisions regarding assessment, treatment, and return to play recommendations, per state licensure guidelines
- Outstanding attention to detail with regard to documentation and injury tracking
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, parents, staff and medical professionals in high stress/pressure situations
- Ability to organize, prioritize and perform multiple tasks with little or no supervision
- Ability to lift 100 pounds, assist patients on and off of examination table, and work outside in a variety of weather conditions
- Commitment to being part of a diverse, equitable and inclusive school community
- Willingness to take on multiple roles within the school
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in field
- At least one year of clinical experience at high school or middle school level
- State of CT van license (if not currently held, must be able to obtain immediately)
