Position title : Technical Support Specialist

Department : IT

Location : North Campus

Full / Part time : Full Time

Organizational relationships

Reports to : (title) : Director of IT Services

Supervises (title) : N / A

SUMMARY OF THE JOB :

The Technical Support Specialist provides technical assistance and training to faculty, staff and students for hardware and software issues regarding Hallmark technical resources. This position assists in the deployment of new technical systems and resources, as well as the maintenance and troubleshooting of existing IT systems. Resolving technical problems and providing essential communication with faculty, staff and student users about their technical issues is a primary focus of this position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

  • Provide client support and technical issue resolution via E-Mail, phone and direct support.
  • Configure and deploy company workstations for select application requirements.
  • Provide training to clients in the use of company systems and applications.
  • Obtain general understanding of OS and application operations related to company services.
  • Identify and correct or advise, on operational issues in company computer systems.
  • Perform light lifting 25lbs.
  • Troubleshoot and find solutions for technical issues that arise.
  • Assist with technical service deployments and continued maintenance.
  • Assist with technical infrastructure deployment as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES :

  • Able to work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines.
  • Able to promptly answer support related email, phone calls and other electronic communications.
  • Self motivated, detail-oriented and organized.
  • Experience with hardware and software issues.
  • Proficient in computer applications such as E-Mail clients, Microsoft Office Suite, and Web Browsers.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills.
  • Typing proficiency : 40-60 wpm.
  • QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE :

    PREFERRED :

  • Associates Degree in a related technical field of study
  • 2 years experience in technical support of industry standard applications
  • REQUIRED :

    One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Salary : $38,000 - $50,000
