What are the responsibilities and job description for the Member Service Representative Summer Camp position at Hamilton Area YMCA?
POSITION PURPOSE
Under the direction and supervision of the Camp Director and in accordance with the mission and purpose of the YMCA, the Member Service Representative is responsible for the successful daily operations of the Member Service Desk and troubleshooting membership operations. The Member Service Representative will also be responsible for assisting with member requests while maintaining positive interaction with the members. He/she will complete all other duties and projects as assigned or required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Possesses an understanding of and be able to perform all responsibilities of the member service representative, ensuring that all members are taken care of.
- Thoroughly understands the YMCA policies, literature, and program information.
- Understands and utilizes the membership database (CCC) with the ability to process transactions.
- Exhibits, understands and follows all Hamilton Area YMCA Member Service Desk policies and procedures including sub policies.
- Ability to work in collaboration with cross-functional teams to achieve desired results.
- Answers questions and makes responsible decisions for the member service representatives following all policies of the YMCA.
- Knowledgeable of the tasks that need to be completed at the front desk for member service representatives to be sure that they are working during their shift.
- Uncovers opportunities to upgrade members and/or to introduce members to other offerings available to them.
- Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or as necessary. Remains flexible and adaptable in work schedules and work assignments as defined by departmental and organizational needs.
- Represents the Hamilton Area YMCA in a manner that conveys professionalism, confidentiality, courtesy, fairness, personal integrity, and respect for others.
HOURS
- Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. or Monday - Friday 12:00 - 4:00 p.m.
RATE
- $16.00 per hour
ROLE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
- At least 18 years old
- High School Diploma required
- Working knowledge or the ability to learn (CCC) Membership Database
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
All Hamilton Area YMCA staff are responsible for the following:

- As a Mandated Reporter you are obligated to report ALL suspicions of abuse or neglect to the requisite state agency.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word to impart oral information and to convey detailed, spoken instructions to staff, members, children, and volunteers accurately, quickly, and loudly. Ability to perceive the nature of sounds by ear; ability to lift and carry 50-75 pounds; ability to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling. Ability to move about on foot quickly; ability to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time. Ability to judge distances and spatial relationships so as to see objects where they actually are and clearly see at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
- Exposure to high levels of noise and various environmental conditions.
Acquire and maintain the following certifications:
- CPR/AED/First Aid obtained through the American Red Cross (valid 2 years)
- Mandated Reporter Training (valid 5 years)
- CARI/CHRI
- Additional training and development specific to your role as reference in onboarding packet.
