Job Duties/Scope Of Work
This position is responsible for the oversight of day-to-day management of personnel assigned to the Mechanical & Instrumentation Services Organization, providing services to the Water/Sewer Utilites organization.
Essential job duties associated with this position include:
- Management and oversight of bargaining unit personnel to efficiently complete scheduled maintenance activities.
- Coordination of all activities for assigned work scope with customer representatives.
- Recommending personnel actions related to assigned personnel in accordance with HMIS policies and procedures.
Other work responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Plan and schedule resources as necessary to meet work priorities.
- Work directly with bargaining unit personnel in the field to maintain continuity of safe operations.
- Interact with operations and other customers at all levels.
- Manage personnel and resources within budget constraints.
- Investigate and report all events and occurrences.
- Ensure work is performed in a safe, cost-effective manner.
- Provide support to implement and manage work packages and work management process for the organization.
- Determine schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities, based on work priority, resource availability, and skill of personnel.
- Monitor employees' work levels and review work performance.
- Recommend or initiate personnel actions, such as hires, promotions, transfers, or disciplinary measures as needed.
- Conduct and/or arrange for worker training in safety, repair, or maintenance techniques, operational procedures, or equipment use.
- Other job duties as assigned by management.
Basic Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED.
- Directly related and progressive experience in maintenance or similar services, including leadership experience (i.e., Fieldwork supervisor, supervisor, superintendent, general foreman or foreman).
- Ability to analyze complex situations and creatively solve problems resulting in positive outcomes.
- Knowledgeable of training, policies and procedures required for employees to safely and successfully perform assigned tasks.
- Strong leadership, written and verbal communication, interpersonal and mentoring skills.
- Must possess experience operating a computer workstation and must be familiar with Microsoft Office programs and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Credential badge.
Desired Qualifications
- BA/BS degree plus 10 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous experience managing bargaining unit crafts; preferably Pipefitters, Millwrights, Instrument Technicians and Electricians.
- Working knowledge of a formalized Lockout/Tagout program (DOE-0336), Electrical Safety Programs (DOE-0359) and Hanford Site Excavating, Trenching, & Shoring Procedure (DOE-0344).
- A valid driver's license.
- Ability to perform normal job assignments as described per the Employee Job Task Analysis (EJTA).

Grade 21: $142,038 - $179,113
Grade 22: $159,363 - $209,688
