Principal Engineer:


Hanley Energy are currently looking for a Principal Engineer to join our team.  This role is within the Hanley US East Region providing project support to the VP of Engineering.

The successful candidate will be the technical lead for new product development projects and leading a cross functional/ cross site teams inclusive of developing project plans, contingency plans, and resource models. Hence this role will require significant Stakeholder Management expertise, with suitable candidate possessing similar experience in managing Stakeholders both locally and internationally. This role will provide guidance to company’s Electrical and Automation R&D team, resulting in the development of new or refined technologies, products, and processes to broaden company product portfolio. 

 

In addition to product development, the candidate will assist with supporting Electrical Testing projects leveraging their strong industry knowledge. The candidate will also assist with supporting the sales team when necessary bringing technical expertise. You will operate as part of a multifunctional global team where your ideas and innovative spark can have great impact. You will liaise daily with Developers and Engineers building your full product life cycle experience and having your opinion heard throughout all stages of development.   As a Principal Engineer you will be given substantial freedom within the role to develop solutions. This role requires an individual who has a “think differently to solve problems” attitude.

 

This is a permanent position with progression opportunities at both local and international level.

 

Responsibilities Include:

Hanley Energy develops and delivers solutions that enable customers to maximize returns on investments, drive efficiencies and reduce costs. Working with highly skilled technical advisors, you will:

  • Apply technical expertise using standard operating and diagnostic protocols to resolve standard to highly complex system level issues by telephone and e-mail to Hanley Energy Customers
  • Remotely identify issues, investigate root causes, and recommend solutions to reported problems
  • Undertake training and certification required to work towards becoming a subject matter expert.
  • Escalate to Engineering or collaborate with other product support teams if required.
  • Leading and guiding the business of the systems under your responsibility and ensuring they function as desired. You will work in close co-operation with other company departments.
  • Principal engineer will manage all phases of technical projects. The Principal engineer will also conduct engineering studies and investigations, and prepare reports for company leadership.
  • Delivering high-quality and cost-effective solutions that meet business requirements over the product life cycle.
  • Proactively seeking and implementing initiatives to improve way of working and increase customer satisfaction.
  • Working knowledge of UL and IEC

Skills and Experience

  • Honor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with further relevant postgraduate study
  • Advanced Qualifications preferred
  • 7-10 years of related professional engineering experience with a strong track record in driving implementation of product development projects.
  • Interdisciplinary background with knowledge and understanding of mechanics, electrics, automation, and software.
  • A collaborative approach to working, with demonstrated people management and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, activities, and tasks simultaneously with competing priorities
  • Ability to facilitate and interact in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English.
  • Electrical Testing Knowledge preferred.
  • Experience in the electrical manufacturing industry
  • Knowledge of control systems/products
  • Prior experience in a sales role or supporting sales from an engineering perspective highly desirable.
  • Nationwide travel as required and international travel from time to time
  • Salary commensurate with experience.
