Harbor House of Central Florida works to prevent and eliminate domestic violence by providing critical life-saving services to survivors, implementing and advancing best practices, and educating and engaging the community in a united front. We offer emergency shelter, court injunctions, and a domestic abuse hotline.

JOB SUMMARY

The Economic Justice Coordinator is responsible for the successful implementation of the Supportive Housing and Economic Justice Program, assisting with tracking the number of survivors receiving services and the type of services provided. The coordinator will provide direct services to survivors seeking economic sustainability and supportive housing.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A Domestic Violence EJ Coordinator

You will Assist survivors of domestic violence in identifying and securing affordable housing and provide direct services for economic sustainability.

You will develop and implement an economic empowerment program, including components such as economic empowerment curricula adaptation and delivery, financial literacy, economic advocacy, Earned Income Tax Credits awareness, microloans, micro-enterprises, matched savings/Individual Developmental Accounts programs, employment assistance, and credit counseling.

You facilitate linkages with and make referrals to community service providers to accomplish service plan goals. In order to assess the progress toward completing the service plan goals and identify areas requiring further assistance, you regularly conduct follow-up meetings with survivors. You are conscientious about keeping up-to-date and accurate documentation from which you compile statistical data in order to maintain compliance with established funding sources. Your job is highly collaborative, as you work closely with the case management team, community services, various advocates, and IFP attorneys to ensure effective coordination of services. QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree and two years of experience working within the domestic violence movement, or a high school/equivalency diploma and four years of experience working within the battered women's movement.
  • Experience: A minimum of one year of case management experience, preferably in a domestic violence program, with demonstrated initiative and compassion when working with others. 1-3 years of financial, credit, and/or employment counseling experience preferred. Professional experience may be substituted for formal education at the discretion of the Chief Executive Officer.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of economic empowerment principles.
    • Ability to develop and deliver financial literacy programs.
    • Excellent communication and advocacy skills.
    • Proficiency in basic to intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office and database software.
  • Certification: Ability to complete CORE competency training within 30 days of hire.
  • Driver's License: Valid Florida driver's license and insurable driving record.
