Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive human resource strategies aligned with the mission, values, and operational goals of the Public Defender's Office.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the Chief Public Defender and executive leadership on workforce planning, organizational development, employee relations, and risk management.
- Oversee human recourses policies, procedures, and practices to ensure consistency, compliance, and best practices.
- Ensure hiring practices are equitable, inclusive, and compliant with applicable civil service rules, county policies, and employment laws.
- Partner with leadership to assess staffing needs, succession planning, and workforce development.
- Supervise employee relations matters, including discipline, grievances, investigations, and conflict resolution.
- Provide guidance on leave administration, accommodations, and benefits-related matters.
- Maintain accurate personnel records and human resources data systems.
- Support initiatives that promote employee wellness, engagement, and retention.
- Ensure confidentiality and data integrity at all times.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of seven (7) years human resources experience.
Preferences
- Master's Degree in Human Resources, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
- SHRM-CP.
