What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production position at Hastings Fiber Glass Products Inc?
We are hiring production staff in two departments - Tubular and Instruments.
Tubular: Using manual and automated processes, manufacture fiberglass blanks to produce components that meet or exceed quality and production standards.
- Operate specialized table at waist height to align and roll sheets of fiberglass cloth around steel mandrels
- Use lathe to wrap nylon around fiberglass-covered mandrels in a range of diameters
- Hang wrapped mandrels on metal carts and push in walk-in oven; operate oven to required settings
- Identify and produce blanks by part number
- Perform marking of blank components according to instructions and specifications
- Tolerate warm environment including use of walk-in oven through shift to retrieve racks of parts
- Ability to use hand tools such as utility knife, pliers, and hammer and operate machinery
Instruments: Using manual gluing and soldering assembly processes, combines various castings, plastic, circuits, face plates and fiberglass housings together as components and finished goods (voltage meters) that meet or exceed quality and production standards.
- Work independently and with other members of the department to fill work orders
- Use hand tools such as utility knife, cutters, pliers, scissors, and / or hammer, etc.
- Assemble various products according to instruction and specification with safety in mind as to low voltage electrical current circuitry, connectivity and testing
- Carefully pack finished parts into appropriate containerization according to work orders
- Performs labeling and marking of products according to instructions and specifications
FOR BOTH DEPARTMENTS:
- Comply with and adhere to applicable safety and work rules and requirements
- Maintain required production rates
- Perform inspection of components by examining them for adherence to quality standards
- Work with peer to peer training and other tools to read and understand patterns, drawings, and work instructions
- Maintain manual production records
- Assist in other areas of the production floor as needed
- Maintain clean and safe working environments in assigned areas
- Comply with and adhere to all applicable ISO standards
- Performs other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Strong hand-eye coordination
- Use of personal protective equipment as required
- Ability to lift and maneuver 5-ft. steel mandrels from waist to shoulder height
- Ability to stand for up to 10 hours per day
- Ability to lift up to 25 – 50 pounds
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS
- Daily attendance and promptness are critical to the success of these positions
- Must possess self-motivation
- Ability to take direction and follow instructions
- Good verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to complete assigned tasks
- Ability to adapt to challenges and changes that arise in course of the day (e.g., equipment malfunctions and changes in production schedule)
