The Estimator prepares accurate cost estimates for machining or fabrication projects, collaborates with sales and manufacturing to gather data for quotes, and monitors job progress through production, inspection, and shipping, addressing any issues.
Hastreiter Industries primarily serves aerospace, defense, energy, industrial equipment and medical industries with equipment ranging from precision multi axis milling and turning to sheet metal fabrication cutting, bending and welding.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect data and prepare cost estimates for machining (e.g., CNC milling, turning) or fabrication (e.g., welding, assembly) projects.
- Review blueprints and specifications to determine project scope.
- Calculate material, labor, and equipment costs.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams for accurate quotes.
- Communicate with clients and vendors to clarify requirements and negotiate pricing.
- Use estimating software (ERP, CRM, spreadsheets) for quotes.
- Monitor project costs post-award and report status, risks, or issues to the manager.
- Maintain records per ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D requirements.
- Stay updated on industry trends and material costs.
- Support supply chain and supplier qualification processes.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of estimating experience in either machining or fabrication.
- Knowledge of machining or fabrication processes.
- Proficiency in reading technical drawings and specifications.
- Ability to perform cost analysis.
- Strong organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Preferred: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Sales or Industrial Technology.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with CAD (e.g. SolidWorks).
