Position Summary
The Gearing Regional Sales Manager will be accountable for new business growth and maintenance of existing customers of high-quality gearing solutions for industries. This position will motivate, educate, and lead teams of independent sale agencies to develop comprehensive territory plans segmented by customer, prospect, market, and product line. The assigned region consists of Montana; Wyoming; Idaho; Utah; Colorado; New Mexico; Minnesota; Northern Iowa; Eastern North and South Dakota; Northern Illinois; Wisconsin; Upper Peninsula of Michigan; Pennsylvania; New York; New Jersey; Maryland; Delaware; Virginia; West Virginia; New England States; Ontario; Quebec; New Brunswick; Nova Scotia; and New Foundland.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Coaching and management of independent Sales Representatives.
- Lead the development and execution of territory pipelines for prospective and current customers, measure wins, losses and capture rates
- Plan and coordinate sales enablement initiatives; run sales training programs
- Set sales goals and profitability targets and identify the leading metrics to track progress to goals
- Establish sales objectives by creating a sales plan and quota for districts in support of overall objectives
- Collaborate with other departments, working closely with product and marketing managers to recommend new products, programs, create success cases and duplicate new customer wins, plan and coordinate sales enablement initiatives
- Identify and recommend new product opportunities, and / or product, packaging, and service changes
- Monitor customer and competitive trends in the assigned region and report quarterly.
- Submit regular activity/call reports concerning customer-related activities for quotes, orders, and problems concerning customer relationships
- Update industry knowledge by participating in associations, educational opportunities and maintaining personal networks
- Provide a territory sales forecast on a monthly / quarterly basis as defined by leadership
Experience and Education Required
- Bachelor’s degree, or five years’ experience in industrial enclosed gearing markets
- Demonstrated success motivating and managing direct and indirect sales teams
- Outside sales experience desired
- Experience in food, beverage markets preferred
- Experience managing both OEM and distribution channels preferred
- Excellent communication skills, self-motivated, self-starter, sense of urgency, personable, well organized
- Required to travel up to 60% of the time, including ability to travel into Canada.
