POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Pharmacy ensures that the pharmacy program provides optimal services; meets all legal, accreditation, and certification requirements, and complies with all applicable policies, procedures, codes, and standards of Health First, Inc. The Director of Pharmacy is accountable and responsible for collaboratively leading, integrating and continuously evolving the pharmacy activities for Health First Hospital Division in partnership with the senior leaders. The Director of Pharmacy collaborates on submissions to regulatory agencies and ongoing process improvement, and serves as back-up or additional support, as needed, to hospital pharmacy managers.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITES
- Coordinates, develops, implements, and audits pharmacy initiatives throughout the four hospitals to confirm they stay standardized and sustainable.
- Engages nursing and applicable medical staff on impact and possible alterations that need to be made for future state.
- Attends Director level meetings to ensure engagement throughout and timely communication to pharmacy leadership.
- Attends and assists in Regulatory Readiness meetings and initiatives at each hospital for pharmacy compliance preparations.
- Acts as an additional resource to pharmacy managers when regulatory entities such as Agency for Healthcare Administration (AHCA) or The Joint Commission (TJC) are onsite and serves as Holmes Regional Medical Centers (HRMC) consultant of record.
- Serves on hospital committees as needed such as pharmacy and therapeutic, infection control, and quality committees.
- Ensures all department operations follow applicable state, federal and accrediting body standards.
- Keeps abreast of current trends, best practices, and new developments in pharmacy benefit administration as they relate to specific job responsibilities.
- Demonstrates leadership and industry expertise by collaboration and communication with other Health First departments, and other community health service providers to ensure appropriate integration across pharmaceutical services and programs.

Work Experience
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Doctorate’s degree in Pharmacy (PharmD)
- Work Experience: 5 years of hospital with progressive management experience.
- Licensure:
- Pharmacist licensure in the State of Florida.
- Consultant Pharmacist licensure in the State of Florida.
- Certification: None
- Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
- Demonstrates strong management, supervision, and leadership ability.
- Ability to relate to customer needs and concerns.
- Demonstrates superior oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates ability to contribute positively to a team environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills required.
- Experience in budget management preferred.
- Ability to be self-directed and motivated.
- Advanced knowledge of Pharmacy processes, state, federal and regulatory requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: PGY-1 in Pharmacy Residency.
- Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: Proficient with Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Majority of time involves sitting or standing; occasional walking, bending, and stooping.
- Long periods of computer time or at workstation.
- Light work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds with or without assistance.
- May be exposed to inside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to moderate noise.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
- Workspace may vary from open to confined.
- May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
