Position qualifications:
Licensures in the State of Colorado as a Clinical Social Worker, Professional Counselor, Licensed Addiction Counselor, or Marriage and Family therapist required. Minimum of two years previous experience in a clinical setting, preferably with inpatient hospital experience. Previous experience with individual therapy, group therapy and family therapy required. Familiar with development and implementation of treatment plans for all age ranges: children, adolescents, adults, and seniors. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Team-oriented approach to service delivery is required.
Job purpose:
Therapist will provide comprehensive psychological services, which include individual, group and/or family therapy with children, adolescents and adults. Provides resources designed to improve or maintain patient’s ability to function in the community. Assesses, monitors & follows up with patient’s ability to meet basic needs. Maintains charts including completing assessments and treatment plans. This position is a lead role and will provide training and clinical supervision for members of the therapy team, to include chart reviews.
Knowledge, Skill & Ability (include materials and equipment directly used):
- Ability to produce timely and complete written documentation of clinical work in a manner consistent with providing information to others as needed or required by West Springs Hospital policies or best practice dictates.
- Ability to summarize service themes from a variety of patient contacts and communicate suggested improvements for service delivery.
- Ability to demonstrate appropriate clinical judgment when assessing the level of risk and determining resolution of patient emergencies, resulting in a safe outcome.
- Ability to work in a cooperative and collaborative manner within a clinical treatment team setting.
- Ability to follow and implement direction as provided by the Clinical Team and/or any Supervisor who may be designated by the Director of Social Services.
- A working knowledge of individual, group, family, and crisis treatment approaches and their application to patients with emotional and behavioral problems.
- Knowledge of mental illness, and psychopathology and associated treatment modalities
- Working knowledge of Colorado Revised Statutes 27-65 (Mental Health Code)
- Knowledge of community health and mental health resources and their eligibility criteria
- CPR/BLS Certification for Healthcare Provider prior to independent patient care required.
- CPI Training/Certification required prior to independent patient care required. Must have ability to perform duties required by CPI training to provide verbal de-escalation and physical and mechanical restraints if necessary (Training for certification will be provided).
- Interpersonal and communication skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all internal and external customers.
- Working knowledge of Windows based computer applications to include Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and Internet access.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment including calculator, copy machine, fax and multi-line telephone.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload in a fast paced environment with frequent interruptions.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Employee is frequently required to walk, sit, stand or kneel and occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop. Must have ability to sit for longer periods of time at a computer. Employee must be able to travel between Mind Springs sites. May be exposed to stressful situations that involve enraged, distraught and/or intoxicated individuals with possible mental health conditions. Possible exposure to communicable disease. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
