Healthcare Staffing Professionals has an immediate need for a Community Counselor to support the Clinical Field Team Program - Mobile Testing Unit. The Community Counselor will play a key role providing the Clinical Field Team and Mobile Testing Unit with clinical and logistics support as they provide services to Underserved Communities and Persons Experiencing Homelessness. The Community Counselor will be responsible for Driving the Mobile Testing Van, Basic Van Maintenance (Gas, Oil), will keep track of clinical supplies and inventory and ensure the proper disposal of waste including biohazardous materials.
This position serves as part of the Clinical Field Team and provides support to the Specialized Investigation Team activities as needed. The position works with the DHSP’s Clinical Field Team Medical Lead, the DHSP Public Health Investigators and the DHSP Public Health Nurses to provide specialized sexual and reproductive health-specific outreach and care including syphilis related services to high-risk clients in non-clinical settings.
Position will start upon acceptance and employment clearance and is initially funded through 6 / 30 / 2025

Job Duties
Provide STI testing and treatment, STD screening, linkages to medical treatment, and educational services to a high-risk population within Los Angeles CountyProvide STI test services to clients including explanation of test; collect behavior related data; and conduct pre- and post-test counselingCollect STD swab specimen and prepare for laboratory processing.Drive the MTUFollow-up with clients to provide test results and / or referrals to Public Health Investigation.Responsible for all details in planning and conducting Medical / Health screening sessions, participate in community group meetings as assigned by SupervisorMaintain quality assurance activities by conducting desk audits of testing data forms, monitoring criteria, and quality management objectives.Order and maintain necessary medical, educational, and office supplies for servicesCollect, enter, monitor client level data into approved data systemMaintain confidential client filesParticipate in project meetingsCoordinate courier services for the transportation of STI, syphilis, GC and CT specimensTransport material and suppliesSubmit case reports in timely mannerWork effectively with other staff, Public Health Investigators, community partners and others as needed.All other duties as assigned by supervisorOverview of Responsibilities :
Participates in outreach activities to reach highly vulnerable clients in non-clinical settings at risk of or experiencing syphilis.Conducts outreach and engagement with the community and vulnerable persons to inform about sexual and reproductive health care services offered.Assists and supports clinical staff with field testing and treatment.Assists with client tracking and patient reminders.Performs client intake and assists with patient flow during outreach.Contributes to case conference reviews and shares findings and lessons learned to improve programmatic response.Transports DHSP patients by county vehicle for sexual health specific appointments as needed and provides field medication dispensing for STD treatment.Serves as a resource and advocate for client access to departmental and community resources.Attends staff and team meetings and completes all required trainings to be compliant with departmental and divisional policies and protocols.
