The Role
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for integrating, organizing, and executing purchasing strategy and driving process improvements to meet company goals. Provide strategic direction to the purchasing team and organization, including sourcing, managing, developing and monitoring performance of the supply base. Ensuring all corporate objectives are met, including procedure establishment, centralization of purchasing functions, cost reductions, supplier contracts and performance improvement initiatives.
Incumbent will build strong collaborative relationships cross-functionally within Atlas Copco as well as with a global supplier base, focusing on customer needs, value delivery, and balancing costs, quality and service.
What we expect of you?
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Act as strategic liaison within Atlas Copco and develop strategy and proven processes to achieve customers' needs.
- Ensure direct and indirect purchasing activities are aligned to support the execution of the business plan.
- Evaluate and select vendors, assess vendor capabilities, develop alternate sources, and evaluate vendor performance.
- Provide analysis and reports to support comprehensive Sustainability objectives with the Supply Base
- Assure purchasing documents are properly completed
- Verify terms and conditions of purchases are aligned with corporate standards
- Assure department records are maintained
- Set and manage goals and objectives for the purchasing team
- Collaborate with other divisional or group purchasing leaders
- Negotiate contracts and supply agreements
- Develop and report purchasing metrics
- Monitor, approve / delegate purchases via requisition system
- Develop supplier relationships to achieve business results, development objectives, BCoP objectives
- Develop internal process, as required
- Resolve contract issues and disputes
- Research and report commodity changes and trends
- Monitor and communicate supplier performance for cost, quality and delivery
- Pursue and implement cost reductions
- Support all Capital purchases as need by the organization
- Other operational functions as required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- 2- 4 years required (5-10 years preferred) of relevant experience in manufacturing, supply chain management, and purchasing agreements with demonstrated leadership responsibilities
- Excellent communication, organization and leadership skills
- Ability to analyze and problem solve strategically
- Professionalism and integrity
- Computer literacy with working knowledge of various software applications
- Tier 1 auto industry experience preferred
- Working knowledge of quality systems
- Successful track record of developing suppliers
EDUCATION OR QUALIFICATIONS:
- B.S. degree in Supply Chain Management or Business Administration preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (AS APPLICABLE):
- Adequate visual acuity is required to utilize and communicate via PC regularly.
