The Purchasing Manager Role
Manages NSK Purchasing Team Members in order to achieve financial, quality, safety, and warranty objectives. Leads and manages subordinate departmental managers including but not limited to Commodity Buyers, Plant(s) MRO Purchasing, Supplier Quality and Facilities.
Responsibilities
- Identifies and develops key talent and appropriately manages team members to ensure success of all individuals in the department.
- Manages the tactical operations of the materials management, purchasing functions, and others as assigned.
- Collaborates with inventory management team to ensure accurate forecasting and inventory planning.
- Liases with counterparts in other functional areas such as Sales, Product Management, Program Management, Engineering, and the Warehouse to ensure alignment of activities and objectives.
- Identifies and implements process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Identifies vendor opportunities and challenges and partners with the product management team to ensure appropriate resolution.
- Leads contract discussions, negotiations, and implementation with cross functional team.
- Leads/supports innovation and Carbon Neutrality/Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.
- This position will require 10-20% travel. Travel can include visits to our facilities and to suppliers.
Qualifications
- This job requires a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
- 8-10 years of position-related experience.
- This is a hybrid position.
