Overview
The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting the Manager of Accounting in maintaining accurate and timely financial reporting; ensuring acceptable levels of internal control; ensuring hotel compliance to Highgate Hotels Standard Operating Procedures; and support team members. For this role, the emphasis is placed on recording of monthly expenses for a group of select service hotels through our global entry process and to reconcile and resolve balance sheet variances.
Responsibilities
- Reconcile, Record, and Maintain prepaid insurance and insurance refunds for the Corepoint portfolio.
- Prepare and complete balance sheet reconciliations on assigned accounts.
- Prepare and post monthly global entries, work with field and operations to accurately reflect their expenses.
- Ensure open items identified during the monthly balance sheet reconciliation process have been communicated with follow-up as necessary.
- Understand and adhere to all internal controls and processes.
- Develop a relationship with individual Hotel Controllers and various teams within the organization.
- Prepare documentation for External Auditors
- Analyze financial statements for discrepancies and alert the Manager of Accounting if necessary.
- Provide training and support to the accounting team.
- Provide support on the AR process as needed.
- Provide support on ad hoc projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Accounting required.
- Strong PC skills including Excel and Word.
- Strong organizational, analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work overtime as necessary to complete assigned tasks.
- Hospitality and hotel specific experience preferred.
- Blackline experience strongly preferred.
- Oracle experience strongly preferred.
- A/R experience strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
