Benefits Coordinator
Location: Brooklyn, NY 11204
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
Position Overview:
The Benefits Coordinator is responsible for administering and supporting employee benefit programs in compliance with healthcare regulations and organizational policies. This role serves as a primary point of contact for employees regarding benefits enrollment, changes, and questions. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, knowledgeable about benefit plans, and experienced in human resources operations within a healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer employee benefit programs including health, dental, vision, life, disability, and retirement plans.
- Process new hire enrollments, qualifying life event changes, and terminations in benefit systems.
- Educate employees on benefit options, eligibility, and coverage provisions.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefits and resolve issues with carriers or brokers.
- Ensure benefit data is accurate and up to date in HRIS and payroll systems.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and healthcare-related benefit regulations, including ACA, COBRA, FMLA, and HIPAA.
- Coordinate annual open enrollment processes and benefit communications.
- Reconcile benefit invoices and investigate discrepancies.
- Prepare reports related to benefits participation, costs, and audits.
- Maintain confidential benefit records and documentation.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in benefits administration or human resources, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of benefit plans and applicable regulations (ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Proficiency with HRIS and payroll systems and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
Compensation:
- $25-30 per hour DOE
- Excellent benefits package including PTO, insurance, etc.
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
