Founded in 1946 and headquartered in Milford, NH, Hitchiner Manufacturing is an investment casting company supplying parts for the aerospace, automotive, and defense industries.

Are you mechanically inclined? Have experience with repairing large manufacturing equipment? Experience with electrical and electronics? Then we are looking for you. This position requires to be able to troubleshoot and diagnose repairs needed to keep machines running for production.

Primary Function:

Troubleshoot to diagnose and affect repairs for complicated electrical/electronic related equipment issues. Assist in installing new equipment to include main wiring of equipment and to meet all relative code requirements. Help develop solutions for equipment upgrades to improve productivity, ease of operation or safety of equipment. Should have demonstrated mechanical skills and electrical/electronics capabilities.

Tools and Equipment:

Typically but not limited to;., schematics and drawings, VOM, megger, oscilloscope, conduit bender and threader, misc. electronic test instruments, micrometers, vernier calipers, welding, burning and cutting torches, meters, lathes, hand tools, ladders, equipment parts, fork lift, etc.

Materials:

Typically but not limited to; conduit, electrical wire, PC’s, , Variable Frequency Drives, DC Drives, electrical components, motors, motor brakes, wood, pipe, solder and flux, conduit, sheet rock, masonite, concrete, etc.

Direction of Others:

Provide technical guidance and/or instruction to lower classified personnel. May direct efforts of others when assigned lead on a project.

Working Procedure:

The following are the usual major job duties, but this job description does not preclude the performance of other duties as assigned by the supervisor:

  • Perform basic troubleshooting to diagnose and affect repairs to equipment in particular of an electrical/electronic nature. Be capable of handling mechanical issues as well. This will include troubleshooting on live equipment when appropriate and safe to do so.
  • Perform Lockout/Tagout to meet all regulatory and safe operating procedures.
  • Under the direction of a qualified individual, determine proper sizing and wiring requirements and install same to connect equipment throughout the facility. May work on voltages of 480 volts or higher.
  • Help Develop/Design piping and/or mechanical systems to control or feed ancillary items connected with production or building related equipment. Produce sketches to document as-builts of these systems.
  • Minimize down time by rapidly diagnosing malfunctions and make complex repairs to production and support equipment.
  • Have the basic understanding of complex drawings schematics, sketches, specifications, charts, tables, or oral instruction to set up and operate machine tools to make complex replacement parts which require very close tolerances because of a press fit, or to avoid interference
  • Help install machines which require precise alignment due to interrelated work stations or sequential hydraulic operations.
  • Must follow all safety requirements of job as outlined on the job safety card
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
  • Complete all paperwork associated with the job. Correctly maintain all forms and instruction sheets
  • Maintain a clean and orderly working environment
  • Inform your supervisor about problems that occur
  • May be required to handle hazardous waste by collecting and transferring the waste into proper containers at satellite storage areas or storage areas and assuring that the containers are properly inspected, labeled, and closed as required. Must follow correct instruction for handling hazardous waste and report any deviations to supervisor immediately. Must attend yearly instruction in hazardous waste handling and review of current procedures if job duties could affect non-compliance.

Special Skills and/or Experience:

Completion of an advanced military service school or two years experience outside equivalent. Vision requirement of 20/30 near correctable and must be able to differentiate colors. Must be able to read and interpret detailed drawings and schematics. Must purchase own mechanic’s hand tools. Must have basic knowledge of HVAC. Must be able to obtain a valid lift truck license as needed. Requires sufficient strength and physical dexterity to frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
