What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Nurse (Specialty) - CVRN position at Holzer Health System?
The Registered Nurse will work under the supervision of the Unit Manager/Director following the American Nurses Association (ANA) standards of practice, and code of ethics within a Patient and Family Centered Care Model. A specialty staff nurse is responsible for administering care to those who present to Holzer facilities in the following areas: OB, Main OR, HSU, ED, CCU, and Cath lab. The Specialty Care Staff Nurse will assess patients’ condition, perform ordered diagnostic tests, begin care treatment plans and assist the providers with any required medical procedures while providing a holistic approach to care. Specialty Care Nurses work primarily in their designated area but can work in other departments such as cardiac care, medical/surgical care, or inpatient rehabilitation during times of critical staffing.
Education, Work Experience and Licensure
• Graduate of an approved Nursing Education Program.
• Holds a current State of Ohio RN License
• BLS - Required
• ACLS – Required
• PALS – Required (ED, Main OR, HSU, CCU)
• NRP- OB
• Previous experience preferred.
• Specialty Certification preferred CCU, OR, ED, & Cath Lab and if not CVRN, please see below for timeline requirements to obtain CVRN.
Additional Certification Requirement:
Cardio-vascular Nursing Certification (CVRN)- Required to successfully pass certification exam within 6 months of eligibility.
CVRN Eligibility:
- Hold a current, active RN license in a state or territory of the United States or hold the professional, legally recognized equivalent in another country.
- Have practiced the equivalent of 2 years full-time as a registered nurse
- Have a minimum of 2,000 hours of clinical practice in cardio-vascular nursing within the last 3 years.
