JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction and supervision of the Skating Coordinator, the Ice Arena Manager or the Ice Arena Assistant Manager, the part time skating instructor is responsible for planning, organizing and leading group skating classes in accordance with the ISI/USFS standards. As a staff professional he/she is involved in all aspects of the Skating School including: competitions, ice shows, testing and special events. The H-F Park District’s mission statement is “to enhance the quality of life through diverse recreational opportunities, facilities and parks while caring for the environment”.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide outstanding customer service to our internal and external guests by providing friendly, responsive, courteous and helpful service.
- Teach all assigned group lessons in an enthusiastic and organized fashion.
- Distribute flyers and other rink information to program participants.
- Maintain weekly class attendance sheets.
- Verbally communicate progress of students and promote rink activities to parents.
- Attend all schedule staff meetings.
- Secure substitutes for classes that they are unable to teach and to notify the Skating Coordinator of any such situation.
- Follow all rink policies and registration procedures.
- Answer parents of students questions.
- Participate in the Ice Arena special events involving the Skating School, Ice Show, Competition, Test Sessions and special events as assigned by the Skating Coordinator.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as directed.
- Adhere to the policies and procedures as outlined in the Safety Manual.
- Other related job duties as assigned.

Qualifications
JOB SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Be as innovative, creative and knowledgeable with your field as possible.
- Current on teaching techniques and assist students accordingly.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
- Be at least 16 years of age.
- Be a member of the Professional Skaters Association. (PSA)
- Also have good knowledge of the Basic Skills skating instruction program.

Salary : $15 - $16
