Position Summary
The Final Inspector – Upholstery Area is responsible for ensuring that all finished upholstered furniture meets the company’s quality standards before it is released to the shipping department. This role is essential to upholding product excellence and requires a keen eye for detail, strong communication skills, and confidence when addressing quality issues with upholsterers or other team members.
Key Responsibilities
Inspect completed upholstered furniture for defects in fabric application, frame integrity, stitching, tufting, welts, trim, leg attachment, and overall craftsmanship.
Verify that all items meet quality standards and customer specifications before moving to shipping.
Document inspection results accurately using a computer or tablet.
Communicate clearly with upholstery team members about any issues or rework that must be addressed.
Ensure proper labeling, tagging, and routing of approved product to shipping.
Work closely with Quality Control, Supervisors, and Upholsterers to resolve ongoing quality concerns.
Maintain an organized inspection area and ensure smooth product flow.
Qualifications
Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify subtle quality issues.
Good communication skills and professionalism when delivering constructive feedback to team members.
Basic computer skills for entering inspection data.
Ability to work independently and take initiative in a fast-paced production environment.
Experience in furniture manufacturing or upholstery is preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements
Frequent standing and walking throughout the day.
Ability to lift and move furniture as needed (up to 50 lbs).
Reaching, bending, and crouching required during inspection process.
