COST ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST - MANUFACTURING - DAYS - AUSTIN PLANT
This position, along with eight other accounting specialists, reports to Bill Potts, Cost Manager.
The work schedule for this position is Monday - Friday with occasional Saturdays and overtime required. The daily hours will vary depending on the respective areas being covered. Limited flex time is available. This position is not eligible for a work from home or telecommuting arrangement.
RESPONSIBILITIES: This position is responsible for providing vacation relief and emergency coverage as needed for cost accounting, livestock accounting, and invoicing groups. As well as providing analytical support in meeting plant & company initiatives. The person in this position:

- Is responsible for accounting for all inventory and production transactions which occur in the assigned departments.
- Reconciles inventories in QAD compared to the physical inventory quantities from the AS400 data collection system and as reported by management.
- Must have the ability to work at a fast pace, handling multiple departments and their associated accounting activities/systems simultaneously.
- Must be willing to proactively seek information from operations management, shipping, and other functional groups to perform daily tasks.
- Completes weekly reporting / reconciliations for management to evaluate to drive actions / results.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
- Two-year accounting degree or the equivalent accounting experience
- Demonstrated proficiency with a PC, Windows and MS Excel
- Ability to learn other computer applications.
- Strong verbal communication and time management skills.
Preferred
- Experience with QAD, AS/400 Shop Floor Data Collection (SFDC), Oracle Financial, and Mainframe systems.
