What are the responsibilities and job description for the Jennie-O Turkey Store - Wash/Disinfect Operator - Barron, WI position at Hormel Foods?
Job Responsibilities
- To wash and disinfect live production facilities in a safe and organized manner, ensuring that all company policies are followed
- Assist all support areas of live production
- Work every other weekend replacing Farm managers and or washing unless otherwise instructed
- Perform repairs, maintenance on equipment, and construction on projects as assigned by the supervisor
- Follow all sanitation and isolation procedures as recommended
- Communicate with supervisor on a regular basis to receive work orders as needed
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
- This position has the possibility of progression to Farm Operator with a Grade 5 pay.
Minimum Qualifications
- Basic math skills/able to read and write at 4th grade level/able to work scheduled weekends and holidays
- Supply reliable transportation for travel to work sites/able to meet all sanitation requirements
- Cannot own or raise any type of fowl (i.e. turkeys, chickens, geese, pheasants, parakeets, etc.)
- Must possess a valid driver's license and able to meets JOTS driving qualifications
- Able to work in a smoke free environment with ammonia present in all weather conditions while using approved respiratory protection/facial hair must not compromise respirator face to mask seal- no beards.
- Twisting, stooping, bend, squat, lift, carry and reach while handling turkeys, feed, litter and equipment ranging from 10 - 50 pounds from occasionally to a frequent basis. Must be able to work on uneven surfaces and able to drive a manual transmission.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous animal husbandry experience and/or a farm background (two years)
- Bobcat tractor experience
- Ability to use and operate a high pressure washer
- Small engine/pump repair experience

At Hormel Foods, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The hiring pay range for this role is $20.90, 6 months $21.25, 1 year $22.30 per hour.
