Position Overview
Hornets Sports & Entertainment (HSE) is looking for an intern for the Business Intelligence department. The Business Intelligence Intern will support the Director of Business Intelligence in the execution of ticketing, partnership and marketing strategy and analytics.
This role is uniquely positioned to play a role in bridging the gap between data analysis and strategy development in the above business verticals. The role requires end-to-end analysis work, including conducting research, writing queries to extract data from the data warehouse, database management, designing dashboards in Tableau, and communicating insights to stakeholders.
This is a paid internship. Interns will be paid $12.00 per hour, with the ability to work thirty (30) hours maximum per week. The 2024-2025 season program runs from September 9, 2024, through April 25, 2025.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support ongoing projects for Business Intelligence, Partnerships, Ticketing, Marketing, Mobile App, and other areas of the business.
- Provide insights using data on consumer behavior, attitudes, demographics and more.
- Review and maintain current Tableau dashboards and optimize SQL queries.
- Assist with organizing, cleaning and managing data in CRM.
- Engage in the full internship program, including workshops, speaker series, job shadow opportunities and work closely with fellow interns to successfully complete and present the intern project.
Qualifications:
- A graduate of or pursuing a degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Business Administration, Computer Science or other related fields.
- Interest in working in the sports industry, specifically within Business Intelligence
- Detail-oriented self-starter with proven ability to learn new skills quickly.
- Possess strong analytical, creative problem solving and project management skills.
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel
- Experience with market research is preferred.
- Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau preferred) is preferred.
- Experience with SQL or other database languages is preferred.
- Experience with data science and statistical software (R, Python) a plus
- Experience with HTML a plus
