Position Overview
Hornets Sports & Entertainment (HSE) is looking for an intern for the Consumer Engagement division. The Consumer Engagement (Marketing, Retail and Events) intern will coordinate with members of the division to assist with focus in the areas of event presentation, fan experience, retail marketing, internal and external client communication, as well as the organization and system management of important department documents and processes.
This is a paid internship. Interns will be paid $12.00 per hour, with the ability to work thirty (30) hours maximum per week. The 2024-2025 season program runs from September 9, 2024 through April 25, 2025.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Research industry trends and tactics
- Research and plann events
- Set up, execute and breakdown game day concourse activations
- Maintain and update department calendars
- Assist in the development of promotions and social media content for retail
- Assist in tracking program results and periodic reporting
- Organize and assist with various HSE events
- Assist with department inventory management (i.e., office supplies, autographed merchandise, etc.)
- Perform administrative tasks as required by department, including, but not limited to producing department meeting and event recaps, assisting with scheduling, and managing of student shadow days, copying, and filing, department communications and VIP gift preparation
- Projects, tasks and other game day responsibilities as assigned
- Engage in the full internship program, including workshops, speaker series, job shadow opportunities and work closely with fellow interns to successfully complete and present the intern project.
Required Skill, Experience and Abilities
To be successful in this position, you should demonstrate the following competencies:
- Completed degree or pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Marketing or a related field, preferred
- Interest or experience in retail, marketing, hospitality and/or event management
- Consistently at work on time, follows instructions and responds to manager’s instructions
- Uses time efficiently and is detail oriented
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to manage individual projects
- Present rself in a professional manner and have the ability to interact with all levels of organization and outside contacts.
- Excellent communication skills including written and verbal; ability to present ideas clearly and concisely
- Possess effective research skills in order to assist in project development within the department
- Adapts to change in the work environment, manages competing demands and is able to handle frequent changes
- Able to attend and work regular-season home games including nights, weekends and holidays
- Ability to work on sensitive projects and maintain confidential information
- General knowledge of basketball and the NBA
