Housing Works fights for funding and legislation to ensure that all people living with HIV/AIDS have access to quality housing, healthcare, HIV prevention, and treatment, among other lifesaving services.

Benefits

We have three comprehensive healthcare plans to choose from based on your priorities and budget. Housing Works covers most of the plan; you pay a portion, based on your salary. Staff begins accruing PTO immediately for a total of up to 30 days earned in the first year. We offer employees an educational benefit. Compensation Range: $65,000 - $70,000 yearly commensurate with experience

Overview

The Program Coordinator is responsible for the administration and implementation of two NYS State Department of Health grants: Community Planning and Coalition Building for Hepatitis C Elimination; and the Ending the Epidemic (ETE) Community Mobilization Initiative. The Program Coordinator will spend 70% of their effort on grant deliverables related to the Ending the Epidemic (ETE) Community Mobilization Initiative, and 30% on deliverables related to Community Planning and Coalition Building for Hepatitis C Elimination. The Ending the Epidemic (ETE) Community Mobilization Initiative seeks to enhance the capacity of the eleven (11) ETE Regional Steering Committees to develop regional community mobilization plans towards the ETE goals that specifically address health inequities that persist regionally. The program Coordinator will support the aims of a community-level response to ending the HIV epidemic in New York State. The Program Coordinator will work under the supervision of the VP of Community Mobilization and in collaboration with SVP, Director of Community Mobilization, Consultant and the Community Organizing Peer will:

  • Target New York City and Long Island
  • Increase the effectiveness of existing ETE Regional Steering Committees;
  • Conduct action planning to support New York State’s ETE efforts; and
  • Establish tools to assist in prioritizing regional needs and planning to advance local strategies with a focus on addressing the health equities that persist, prioritizing regional needs.

Community Planning And Coalition Building For Hepatitis C Elimination Seeks To Develop a Statewide Network Of HCV Elimination Coalitions In Each Region Of The State. This Initiative Aims To Move NYS Towards a State Where HCV Is No Longer a Public Health Problem And The Inequities Faced By Those Living With HCV Are Eliminated. The Housing Works Was Awarded The Grant To Focus On The Five Boroughs Of New York City. The Program Coordinator Will Work Under The Supervision Of The VP Of Community Mobilization And Collaboration With The Director Of Community Mobilization And Consultant To Support The Engagement Of Stakeholders, Including Persons Impacted By HCV, And Support Efforts To

  • Increase community education and awareness of HCV prevention, testing, and linkage to HCV care and treatment;
  • Raise public support to advance HCV elimination;
  • Establish and support a New York City elimination coalition;
  • Coordinate regional community action planning to advance the NYS HCV elimination plan; and
  • Educate government policymakers.

Supervision/Training

  • Regular supervisory meetings with the Director for Community Mobilization
  • Maintenance of a work plan which details project goals, deliverables, and outcomes.
  • Participation in internal and external training programs

Responsibilities

The Ending the Epidemic (ETE) Community Mobilization Initiative Duties and Responsibilities (70%):

  • Assist with planning and coordination of programs and activities. This includes maintaining meeting minutes and disseminating information to Regional Steering Committee partners and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor implementation of project and practices. Includes keeping things on schedule around implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of activities.
  • Work together with the Consultant to develop, implement, and summarize an assessment of unmet needs and gaps in the EtE efforts for New York City and Long Island ensuring that partners will be involved in the creation, review, finalization, and dissemination of key findings of the needs assessment.
  • Assist in facilitating Action Plan(s).
  • Supervise the Peer Community Organizer
  • Facilitate the coordination of New York State legislative awareness and education days in Albany and regional in-district offices
  • Work collaboratively with the Upstate ETE Community Mobilization grant lead (Albany Damien Center).
  • Prepare and submit materials to the State Department of Health including tracking activities and efforts, compiling findings, and aggregating reports of group results.
  • Ensure that the grant project is contractually compliant and adheres to organizational and grant rules and regulations.
  • Assist with monitoring project budget and tracking expenditures.
  • Assist in other public health issues if/when they arise (e.g., local STI case increases, outbreaks, emergencies.)

Community Planning and Coalition Building for Hepatitis C Elimination Duties and Responsibilities (30%):

  • Assist with planning and coordination of programs and activities. This includes maintaining meeting minutes and disseminating information to Regional Steering Committee partners and other stakeholders.

  • Work with the Consultant to conduct a regional gaps analysis in consultation with the coalition partners to develop strategies to address gaps and needs.
  • Support planning for engaging government policymakers on public health and policy actions to address HCV.

Assist With

  • One- or more community-wide HCV events each year to promote HCV prevention, testing, linkage to care and treatment.
  • An annual NYS HCV legislative awareness event
  • Aid with non-workplan public health issues if/when they arise.

Salary : $65,000 - $70,000
