This position is included in a bargaining unit of Housing Works’ New York City employees represented by a labor union known as the Retail Wholesale and Department Store Union (“RWDSU”). Accordingly, the RWDSU has the exclusive right to bargain over the terms and conditions of employment related to this position and this position may become covered by the terms of a collective bargaining agreement (a “CBA”) between Housing Works and the RWDSU

Compensation: $19.23/hr

Overview:
The Residential Aide (RA) ensures the wellbeing and safety of the program’s clients and staff during their shifts. The RA provides crisis intervention as needed to maintain residential safety and security. The schedule operates 7 days a week, and all holidays as needed.

Responsibilities:

• The RA makes sure that program’s policies and procedures are enforced and adhered to by program clients.
• Build rapport with program clients and engage with them professionally and respectfully.
• When necessary, de-escalate tense, even hostile, client situations
• Ensure the safety, security and integrity of all residents and guests, as well as the physical environment of the facility.
• Conduct periodic facility walk-throughs.
• Always provide excellent customer service and confidentiality.
• Distribute meals to program clients and help unpack and properly store meals that are delivered to site.
• Perform light custodial work consisting of cleaning tables, chairs, minor spills, and removal of trash.
• Communicate with the clinical staff on resident behavior as well as the care of those on the fragile list.
• Provide COVID-19 screening to all visitors, staff, and clients who enter the hotel.
• Always enforce the Residential Code of Conduct and/or House Rules.
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
• Ability to work with the street homeless population.
• Must use PPE provided by Housing Works during shift throughout the course of the COVID-19 pandemic.

• Excellent internal and external customer service skills and strong interpersonal skills.
• Good communication skills both verbally and written including the ability to communicate with all levels of management.

• Able to lift 20lbs. with proper assistance and tools.
• The Residential Aide position is one which requires the staff person to be present in the program site 100% of the time.
