What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tooling Specialist V position at Howmet Aerospace?
This position requires an in depth knowledge of operating methods and techniques to make set-ups and maintain close tolerances and finish requirements. Must have process knowledge of machining fundamentals and shop mathematics. Work requires decisions using ingenuity, initiative, and sound judgment.
- Repair, replace, and troubleshoot all necessary components required to remanufacture
- Davenport and Acme multi spindle screw machines including Traub single spindle machines.
- Rebuild components from prints, sketches, and verbal instructions when no tool drawings are available.
- Must be able to install and adjust components completely too exacting tolerances.
- Set up and operates all necessary tools and equipment used in the process of remanufacturing.
- Utilizes complete knowledge of rebuilding skills, precision measuring instruments and hand tools.
- Trains machine rebuilder apprentices and personnel of lesser skills.
- Makes sketches when required of tooling needed for rebuilding purpose of machine and machine functions.
- Oversee, and perform complex or difficult repairs and installations required in the re-manufacturing process.
- Rebuilds, debugs, and runs equipment after re-manufacturing process to insure complete and proper functionality of equipment.
- Performs others task of equal or lesser skills as required.
- Must have strong background in Davenport, and Acme screw machine rebuilder including Traub single spindle.
