SUMMARY:

The SLPA will provide speech and language services to students in the Hudson Public Schools. This position is accountable for providing support to students with a variety of communication disorders under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist. This position will start in the 2024-2025 school year.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assisting with speech-language screenings (without interpretation).
  • Assisting with informal documentation as directed by the supervisor.
  • Following documented treatment plans of protocols developed by the supervisor.
  • Providing direct speech-language services for students on IEPs and 504.
  • Documenting student performance (e.g., tallying data for the Speech-Language Pathologist to use, preparing charts, records, and graphs) and reporting this information to the supervisor.
  • Preparing quarterly progress notes of student progress towards IEP goals to be reviewed by the supervisor and held in student records.
  • Assisting the Speech-Language Pathologist during assessment of students.
  • Assisting with clerical duties such as preparing materials and scheduling activities as directed by the supervisor.
  • Performing checks and maintenance of equipment.
  • Collecting data for monitoring quality improvement.
  • Performs any other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as the Principal or designee may from time to time assign and delegate.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Current Speech-Language Pathology Assistant license issued by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Division of Professional Licensure, Board of Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Successful completion of Criminal Records Check (CORI), and fingerprints
  • Portuguese or Spanish speaking referred.

WORK YEAR:

  • 10 month position, 183 work days, 3 personal days & 12 sick days prorated pursuant to hire date.
  • Benefit Eligible on start date. 30 days to enroll in coverage from start date.

  • This is a salaried position distributed over 26 paychecks including a lump sum in June to cover summer pay


While performing duties of this job, the employee may often remain in a stationary position for considerable periods of time. The employee will have ample periods of standing and may be required to traverse throughout the building. The employee must frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and use hand strength to grasp tools. Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity machinery (i.e., calculator, copy machine, and computer printer).
Physical abilities may also include lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling, stooping/crouching, reaching/handling, talking/hearing conversations, and near/far visual acuity/depth perception/color vision/field. Ability must be able to lift and/or push and pull 15 to 20lbs for short periods, and walk up and down stairs several times a day. The employee must be able to communicate effectively with students, staff members, and the public in person and on the telephone.
