Adjunct Instructor- Medical Billing and Coding


Position Summary:  

Adjunct faculty plan, prepare and deliver quality instruction to students by utilizing approved course curriculum and instructional methods that accommodate multiple learning styles.  

 

This position includes delivering instruction in a blended format – a portion of the is taught on campus, once per week, with the remainder of the course being taught asynchronously in the online environment.

 

We are seeking adjunct faculty to teach any of the following courses:

  • ICD
  • Surgical Procedure Coding
  • Coding Clinic – this is a simulation-based course based on real-life, on-the-job scenarios

 

Position Responsibilities:

 

  • Facilitate organized, engaging classes based on course objectives and course curriculum
  • Assess student learning using appropriate methods
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress; provide feedback and advising to students regarding progress
  • Effectively resolves student concerns or complaints
  • Participate in new student orientation, graduation and other campus events, as appropriate
  • Participate in professional development activities to maintain currency in the field and with instructional and educational practices and methods
  • Other duties as required

 

Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited post-secondary medical billing & coding program, health information technology program, or other appropriately related program

 

Experience:

  • Minimum of three years’ work experience doing medical coding and/or billing

  • Use Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to prepare and maintain records, correspondence, reports and other data

 

Physical and Mental Requirements:

 

Physical Requirements:  This job requires normal physical mobility, including the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.  Normal hand-eye coordination; arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp and lift up to 40 pounds, is also required.

 

Mental Requirements:  This job requires the ability to read, recall, write and understand information.  This job also requires the ability to work under moderate pressure and to manage multiple tasks concurrently.

 

Environment:  This job is normally performed in a clean, well-lighted, heated and cooled office area/classroom
