Position Overview
Under general direction for the Division of Justice Services conducts a variety of studies/reports or problems within the Firearms Services Bureau (FSB), some confidential and/or non-sensitive in nature, affecting operating procedures, such as, firearm legislation. Assists in the planning, performance measurements, and review processes that addresses strategic and tactical plans of the Bureau; assists in the development, approval and publishing of policies, procedures, and legal opinions for the Bureau; assists in developing, implementing, and administering the FSB Employee Training Program. Complies a variety of inter/intra agency electronic correspondence and reports on behalf of the Bureau Chief; initiates inter/intra agency correspondence regarding policies and procedures; ensures all reports and correspondence are accomplished in a timely, efficient, and correct manner; attends and participates in bureau staff meetings. Responsible for the Firearms Services Bureau's information of the ISP website ensuring it's accuracy.
Essential Functions
- Conducts a variety of studies/reports on problems withing the FSB, some confidential and/or non-sensitive in nature, affecting operating procedures, such as firearm legislation.
- Assists in the planning, performance measurements, and review processes that addresses strategic and tactical plans of the Bureau.
- Compiles a variety of inter-intra agency electronic correspondence and reports on behalf of the Bureau Chief.
- Posts Firearms Services Bureau's information on the ISP website and edits to ensure accuracy.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of the duties.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with courses in public or business administration.
- Requires one year of professional experience in a public or private organization, or completion of an agency approved professional management training program.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers one (1) year experience applying the principles and practices of public administration.
- Prefers one (1) year strong organizational, written and oral communication skills, including the ability to prepare written communication utilizing proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Prefers at least one (1) year experience working with software such as Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint to develop reports.
- Prefers at least one (1) year experience creating and producing reports such as statistical reports and drafting accompanying narratives to summarize reports and presentations.

- Requires ability to pass a drug test.
