Job Summary
The Assistant Director of Marketing is responsible for administering comprehensive and effective marketing plans for a variety of College audiences, such as prospective students, alumni, donors, and faculty/staff. This role is pivotal in enhancing the visibility of the College through overseeing the College's website, social media presence and publications and assisting in the planning and execution of strategic College events. Strong communication and collaboration with College program areas will prove critical to advancing college initiatives and enhancing the College’s reputation.
Salary Rate / Pay Rate
$55,000 - $60,000 annual
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or equivalent degree in communications, journalism, public relations, business administration, marketing, or a related field conferred prior to start date.
- Three or more years of experience as a communications professional in the areas of marketing management, recruitment, advertising, public relations, or related area, with proven ability to develop and execute marketing, and strategic communications plans (preferably in higher education).
- Experience with the following:
a. writing, editing, and verbally communicating across a variety a communication media. (i.e., web, social media, print publications, email).
b. design software (i.e., Adobe-Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, or Canva).
c. using a web content management system (e.g., OUCampus or WordPress).
d. managing a variety of social media accounts/platforms for an organization.
- Ability to:
a. represent the College publicly with constituents across cultures and identities.
b. merge multiple media into a cohesive marketing strategy.
c. handle multiple projects concurrently.
- An understanding of how to leverage the college website to maximize its marketing potential.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in communications, public relations, business administration, marketing, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience, preferably in an institution of higher education.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute marketing and strategic communications plans to effect outcomes.
Work Hours
Core Hours: 8:00am-4:30pm Monday through Friday

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview. The active register for this classification will be voided when the position is filled.
