About the Job

We are seeking multiple board-certified or eligible Internal Medicine physicians to cover locum tenens assignments on the beautiful US Virgin Island of St. Croix.

• The assignments run from Monday at 8am to the following Monday at 8am, with a minimum stay of one week and a maximum stay of two weeks.
• Physicians will fly in on the Sunday prior to their assignment and depart after turning over the unit to the incoming physician on the following Monday.

Responsibilities

As a medical doctor in this role, you will be responsible for:

• Taking call for admissions and consultations every other day (24 hours)
• Performing daily rounds on assigned inpatients, including documenting history and physicals, daily progress notes electronically, and updating care plans
• Communicating with patients, families, consultants, nurses, case managers, and ancillary services
• Managing an average inpatient load of 10-20 patients per day
• Creating timely discharge summaries and documenting all transfers
• Writing clearly dated and timed orders in patients' charts
• Co-signing verbal orders given via telephone within 24 hours
• Assigning inpatients to upcoming on-call physicians through a typed sign-out list

Location and Logistics

The assignments will take place on the island of St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands.

Compensation

You will be compensated directly by the hospital at a rate of $1200 per day and $135 per hour for in-hospital work after hours.

Salary : $60,000 - $84,000
