What are the responsibilities and job description for the CMA or Phlebotomist position at Independent Physician Services?
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Perform data entry/ordering in computer.
2. Perform phlebotomy collection procedures on patients per protocol. Assist patient before, during and after
specimen collection.
3. Provide instructions to patient on various specimen collections.
4. Prepare/maintain equipment in lab/phlebotomy room as needed.
5. Clean/maintain safe work area following safety, cleanliness and infection control procedures.
6. Maintain adequate inventory on phlebotomy supplies and place order as needed.
7. Maintain patient confidentiality
8. Perform clerical duties related to position (filing, answering phone, etc.)
9. Encourage positive relations within our organization and any outside organizations.
10. Participate in continuous process improvement by offering potential solutions to problems observed.
11. Take initiative on assigned projects and follow to completion.
12. Participate in training and continuing education.
The job holder must demonstrate current competencies applicable to the position.
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent. Phlebotomy certificate required or CMA/LPN.
EXPERIENCE: Phlebotomy experience preferred or completion of phlebotomy training course.
