What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Records Clerk position at INDIAN HEALTH CARE RESOURCE CENTER?

  • Accurate and timely scanning of documents into VISTA.
  • Process requests for records and invoicing.
  • Assist customers in person, on the telephone, fax, and mail.
  • Crosstrain on all medical records responsibilities.
  • Provide exemplary customer service to internal and external customers.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 years’ experience working in a multi-provider, electronic medical records environment preferred.
  • Must be organized, accurate, and customer focused.
  • Familiarity and understanding of HIPAA regulations and application thereof preferred.
  • Intermediate computer skills.

We have a very competitive benefit package along with a healthy work and home balance. Some of benefits include:

  • Health and Dental Insurance: Free Health and Dental Insurance to all full-time employees, with the option to add on a spouse or child(ren) at a very affordable cost.
  • Life Insurance LTD/STD/AD&D: Each employee is automatically provided life insurance coverage of $25,000. Limited Short Term Disability and Long Term. Disability coverage is provided at no cost to the employee. Supplemental Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) coverage is available at an additional cost to the employee. (Evidence of Insurability may apply.)
  • Retirement: IHCRC offers a 403(b) plan for you to immediately start contributing to upon hire. After one year, and 1000 hours of service, IHCRC contributes an amount equal to 4% of your yearly base salary to a 401(a) plan. This amount increases to 5% after 5 years and 6% after 10 years of service. Vesting in the 401(a) plan is based on a 6 year graded vesting schedule.
  • Paid Time Off: PTO combines sick time and vacation time into one bank of time that is used for all personal time off. Employees who are regularly scheduled to work Full Time, 40 hour per week, earn Paid Time Off at a rate of 6.77 hours per pay period (22 days per year). After 5 years of service, Paid Time Off is accrued at a rate of 9.23 hours per pay period (30 days per year). Physicians start accruing at the 9.23 accrual rate immediately upon becoming benefits eligible.
  • Holidays: IHCRC is closed for holiday observations a total of 13 days per calendar year. All Full Time status employees will receive holiday pay for the regular scheduled work day.
  • Additional Benefits: IHCRC reimburses eligible employees for professional license fee renewals, professional liability insurance, professional organization memberships, and continuing education conferences. IHCRC values its employees and the hard work they do. We enjoy recognizing staff by providing catered lunches throughout the year, cookies and sweet treats periodically, dress up days and themed lunches, and random gift drawings. Staff tenure awards and performance awards are celebrated annually with an evening dinner and awards presentation.

New Hires: Benefits become effective on the first day of the month following 30 continuous days of employment.
Open Enrollment: Benefits’ plan year is January 1st – December 31st. Open enrollment occurs in December of each year.
