Are you passionate about helping students take the next step in their academic journey? Indian River State College is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Admissions Counselor to guide prospective students through the admissions process and support them in achieving their educational goals. In this role, you'll manage a caseload of prospective students, provide personalized guidance on choosing a major, and help applicants navigate and complete admissions and onboarding requirements. You'll also play a key part in college recruitment initiatives, working closely with academic departments, the Recruitment Coordinator, and Campus Directors to increase enrollment and connect students with the opportunities IRSC has to offer.

JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision of the Senior Admissions Counselor, increases enrollment at the College by serving as a consistent contact for prospective students and applicants. Manage a caseload of new prospects and applicants to IRSC, assigned by meta major, and work with those students to complete all requirements for admission. Provide prospective students guidance on choosing a major and educate the prospect on what do with specific major/program of study. Help applicants overcome any barriers to the completion of all admissions and onboarding requirements. Assist with recruitment initiatives and work with Recruitment Coordinator and Campus Directors to ensure adequate coverage at all events to help drive students to apply to IRSC. Understand all academic program details and intricacies of programs of study, provide training to all counselors and recruitment team.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as sedentary work involving lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally, and other sedentary criteria are met.

Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills and/or abilities. To perform this job successfully, the employee must possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently. Additionally, all employees of the College are expected to maintain professional standards of communication, able to learn and apply new technology, and abide by all policies and procedures. Continued employment remains on an “at-will” basis.
Works until 6:30 p.m. one evening per week and multiple evenings during peak registration

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Increase college enrollment by actively managing a caseload of new customers/prospects & applicants to IRSC, assigned by meta major, and working with those students to complete all requirements and onboarding items for admission; including residency and financial aid (35%)
- Provide prospective students guidance on choosing a major and educate the prospect on what do with specific major/program of study (30%)
- Represent assigned program of study, alongside academic department in recruitment opportunities on and off campus including high school classroom presentations, and participation in college fairs (30%)
- Complete all other duties and responsibilities as assigned (5%)
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of three (3) years proven work experience with student recruitment, enrollment, and/or retention initiatives in a post-secondary, educational setting;
- Ability to manage a team and lead consistent meetings ensuring departmental goals are being met.
- Proven knowledge and skill in higher education student services, including admissions and registration procedures.
- Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively with students and provide accurate and sound academic and career advice.
- Demonstrate understanding of a broad range of educational opportunities.
- Ability to function effectively with multiple priorities, be well organized, and demonstrate effective time management.
- Flexibility and creativity in problem solving.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, be self-motivated, and work effectively on a team;
- Ability to work across multiple departments to ensure consistent and continuous services for students.
- Demonstrate effective written, verbal and presentation skills.
- Proficient use of technology applications and student information system.
