What are the responsibilities and job description for the Architectural Metals Drafter position at Industrial Louvers Inc?
SUMMARY
Prepares submittal drawings of Architectural Louvers, Equipment Screens, Sunshades, Canopies, Column Covers and other custom Architectural Metal Products for building exteriors. Submittal drawings are prepared from Architectural, Structural, Mechanical and other trade related drawings such as structural steel, curtainwall / storefront, precast concrete and metal paneling. In addition, but not limited to specifications, sketches, and job site photos. Drawings of product assemblies and related building details to show attachment and relation to the building.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare submittal drawings of ILI products for approval and fabrication
- Work directly with Engineering Team on design issues. Support Sales, Marketing and Production Teams to interpret design concepts, determine nature and type of required detailed drawings, and coordinate with others
- Confirm dimension of parts, materials to be used, relation of one part to another and relation of custom assemblies to whole structure or project
- Revise drawings per redlines, customer changes, field dimensions, engineering calculations or internal value engineering / fabrication changes. Apply changes arising from fabrication – keep drawings updated
- Serve internal and external customers. Attend company and team level meetings. Participate in conference calls or job specific meetings
- Participate in business process redesign issues. Development of standard work practices, standard work instructions, Kaizen events, 5S, and ideas for continuous improvements
- Other duties may be assigned
REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Diploma or Certificate from a Technical College / Trade school or Degree in Architectural Design
- Proficiency with AutoCAD computer-assisted drafting equipment and software
- Proficiency with Outlook, Excel, Access, Bluebeam or Adobe PDF softwares
- Ability to read construction documents such as architectural, structural, and mechanical drawings and specs
- 2 yrs min experience on the job or as an intern
- Attention to detail
RECOMMENDED / PREFERRED:
- 4-5 yrs of experience in architectural products manufacturing and design
- Knowledge of aluminum extrusions and sheet metal components
- Fabrication requirements and processes of metal products
- Experience with CNC programming
- Experience with Inventor, Solidworks or other 3-D software
- Self-motivated
- Problem solver
- Ability to work on multiple projects and keep on schedule
