Our production supervisor contributes to meeting goals established for safety, labor utilization, cost, quality, and on-time shipping performance by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate employees. Arranges and schedules transportation. Updates ERP system to document shipping and other activities. Works closely with procurement and finance. Responsible for 5S Safety in the factory and warehouse. Responsible for enforcing shop rules and collective bargaining agreement.
Lead, Manage, Accountability
Instructs and delegates to Lead employees daily objectives for production activities. Develops standard work practices and documents, and inspires a continuous improvement environment.
Scheduling / Production Process
Analyzes jobs to determine needs, staffing and complexities involved. Establishes the shop production schedule with consideration to staffing requirements, demand, resources, people’s ability, outside operations, training, labor costs, material availability, quality level acceptance, efficiency and on-time delivery performance.
Employee Relations
Must possess strong interpersonal skills, oral communication, written communication, nurture team participation and cooperation. Be a visionary leader inspiring respect and trust and addressing the employees’ issues with a sense of urgency. Conducts Employee Reviews to provide employees with regard to their personal performance activities. Interviews, hires, terminates and disciplines all shop employees as necessary following company and union protocol.
Productivity
Establishes productivity expectations and drives output. Removes constraints and achieves quality and on-time shipping performance objectives. Challenges work areas through continuous improvement activities in order to improve process performance and increase labor efficiencies.
Process Improvements
Strives toward continuous improvement initiatives with regard to all aspects related to production not limited to the production areas. Stimulates and promotes problem solving through team approach, support, innovation, initiatives and conveying an expectation. Strong follow-up approach to ensure improvements are successful. Document on the CIP log and scorecard.
Quality
Ensures that the quality expectations are followed to acceptable levels with every job. Clarifying quality expectations and metrics performance and immediately addressing issues not compliant with established goals.
Safety
Observes and ensures that all employees follow safety protocol and report all incidents in a timely basis. Issue all necessary Personal Protective Equipment as necessary to production operations and communicate with management any issues related to machinery or equipment immediately. Ensures the cleanliness and 6S organization of the shop in order to minimize safety issues. Participate in identifying issues and following to closure bi-weekly on the SAIL.
Metric Performance
Have a consciousness of at what percent of labor to revenue are the shop employees performing at in order to control labor costs. An awareness of quality issues through the reporting of QLTs (Quality Learning Training). Ensure that all Lead employees support the QCDS Boards and keep information up to date daily.
Training
Develop and establish training requirements for all production functional areas. Ensure that employees are knowledgeable of operations and can effectively be utilized in many different production areas.
Education and /or Experience
Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university, or two to four years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Production experience in a Manufacturing environment required. Lean Green-Belt Certification a plus. Experience with ERP systems helpful.
