Job Title: Machinist 3

Pay Rate: $40 to $43/HR plus Per Diem for candidates living outside a 50-mile radius)

Duration: 6 months

Location: Lake Charles, LA

Shift: 6:00 AM to 4:42 PM Central time (4x10 M-Th)

We are looking for Machinists 3.

Per Diem is only offered to those candidates living outside a 50-mile radius of the work location. Per Diem will be paid in accordance with the rates published on the GSA website for the work location.

Our client is looking for Machinists to set up and operate a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, planers, and precision grinders to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions. Interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications; determines sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup; uses a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments; makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds; measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining; fits and assembles precision parts into mechanical equipment and determines material, parts, and equipment required. Some machines may be numerically controlled.

Responsibilities:

Set up and operate a variety of machine tools such as C.N.C. and manual lathes, C.N.C. and manual mills, and precision grinders to make parts from a variety of metals.
Understand mechanisms, tools, and machines to manufacture parts to exacting tolerances and dimensions.
Understand and follow blueprints, sketches, engineering specifications, and verbal instructions to determine the sequence of operations and method of setup for machining.
Knowledge of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments such as Swiss micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, and standard micrometers.

Basic Qualifications:

Candidate must have 5 years’ experience on 3 Axis CNC machines, 4 and 5 Axis a plus.
Must have experience running manual machines and performing set-ups.
Experience with MAZATROL and Fanuc (HAAS) Controller preferred.
Ability to read and interpret production specifications, production diagrams, assembly drawings, and technical specifications.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Experience in performing unique setups.
