Job Title: WordPress Developer

Location: Norfolk, VA – 3 days office Hybrid

Duration: 12 months

Job Summary:

We are looking for a talented and detail-oriented WordPress Developer to design, implement, and manage websites using the WordPress platform. The ideal candidate will have experience with custom themes, plugins, and performance optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Design and develop responsive, user-friendly websites using WordPress.
2. Customize existing themes and plugins as per requirements.
3. Create custom plugins or functionalities when needed.
4. Maintain, update, and troubleshoot existing WordPress websites.
5. Ensure websites are optimized for performance, SEO, and accessibility.
6. Integrate third-party APIs and services (e.g., Mailchimp, Stripe, HubSpot).
7. Collaborate with designers, content creators, and project managers.
8. Conduct cross-browser and device testing.
9. Maintain proper documentation and code repositories (e.g., Git).

Required Skills:

1. Proficiency in WordPress CMS, theme development, and plugin architecture.
2. Strong experience with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, PHP, and MySQL.
3. Experience with page builders like Elementor, WPBakery, or Gutenberg.
4. Familiarity with REST APIs and AJAX.
5. Understanding of SEO best practices and accessibility standards.
6. Experience with Git and version control systems.
7. Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.

Preferred Skills:

1. Experience with WooCommerce, ACF (Advanced Custom Fields), and CPTs.
2. Familiarity with performance optimization (caching, minification, CDN).
3. Basic knowledge of security best practices in WordPress.
4. Experience with deployment tools or CI/CD pipelines.
5. Familiarity with tools like Figma or Adobe XD for design handoff.
