Summary
A Purchasing Specialist is responsible for overseeing the procurement process, ensuring goods and services are acquired efficiently and cost-effectively. They analyze market trends, source and evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier relationships. They also play a key role in managing inventory levels and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.
Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities and duties of Purchasing Specialist position include, but are not limited to:
Sourcing, Supplier and Relationship Management:
- Researching and identifying potential suppliers, evaluating their products and services, and negotiating favorable purchase terms and agreement.
- Developing and implementing sourcing strategies to optimize the procurement process and ensure the organization maintains a competitive edge.
- Anticipating potential disruptions in the supply chain and developing strategies to mitigate them.
- Analyzing market trends, negotiating favorable pricing, and identifying opportunities to reduce costs.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, collaborating with internal departments to understand their needs, and resolving any issues or concerns.
Purchase Order and Inventory Management:
- Creating and processing purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Monitoring inventory levels, tracking deliveries, and resolving any discrepancies in purchase orders and/or inventory.
Compliance & Reporting:
- Ensuring all purchases adhere to company policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.
- Preparing reports on procurement activities, spending, and savings.
Strategic Sourcing & Supply Chain Risk Management:
- Performing Quality Control for sources, items and suppliers.
- Inspecting and evaluating the quality of purchased items and resolving any issues.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Accounting, with at least 4 years’ experience in the field with focus on health care. Certification in Supply Management.
