Summary
Under the direction of the Register Nurse, the Quality Coordinator will support the development, implementation, and evaluation of the health center’s overall QAQI program that includes ancillary, nursing, and medical staff departments to identify trends, prioritize and recommend improvements, decrease duplication, and ensure regulatory compliance. The Quality Coordinator may provide training, technical assistance, performance and support services to the health center to help establish, promote, maintain, and/or enhance Quality Improvement Systems. Such activities may include, but are not limited to, performing and providing training of clinic staff, improving teamwork and team effectiveness; monitoring program effectiveness; assisting in preparation for accreditation surveys; assisting and performing audits and studies and maintaining an effective outcome driven Quality Improvement Program.
Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities and duties of Quality Coordinator position include, but are not limited to:
- Work with medical staff department leadership on QAQI activities
- Organizes, complies, and analyzes QAQI data to identify trends, established priorities, and recommend improvement activities.
- Reviews clinical policies and procedures and ensures system compliance and/or recommends modifications and changes based on identified needs and trends.
- Performs comprehensive, concurrent, and retrospective reviews of operational data in a timely manner, using criteria developed and approved by the health center.
- Participates and completes customer service audits.
- Assist medical providers and scribes with additional documentation needs and/or training to make sure patient health record documentation meets or exceeds standards.
- Tracking of project progress and timely communication of project findings and outcomes
- Participates and reports finding to other departments and/or the appropriate committees on utilization review, infection control, and risk management.
- Overall supports production improvement, meeting and exceeding quality standards, and risk reduction activities.
Actively participates in Utilization Management system by completing:
- Review of routine and critical labs and scheduling of patients for results
- Review of urgent and routine referral and, assisting with patient for results
- Review of hospitalization transfer log and patient follow up related to hospital visit
- Other duties as directed by Supervisor and/or Administration
Qualifications
Bachelors of Science Degree or equivalent. Must have experience with an electronic health system in a medical setting. One year of related experience. Preferred experience in a doctor’s office. Must be able to accurately identify quality processes and efficiencies, and work with appropriate resource, policy or procedure or Team Member. Must be able to recognize and escalate issues as needed. Must be able to travel to all IBHS locations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Must have physical ability to sit for extended periods of time, have the ability to reach, possess fine manual dexterity, talking, and hearing.
Must be psychologically able to deliver appropriate medical services to the patients regardless of ethnic, religion, sex, age, physical disability, or economic status.
