Computer Aided Design Technician

Position: Civil CAD Tech

Location: Pittsburgh, PA or Cleveland, OH

Duration: 6 month contract to hire

Salary: $27/hr - $35/hr

Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented Civil CAD Technician with a strong foundation in AutoCAD Civil 3D and experience in pipeline and site civil design. They thrive in collaborative environments, communicate effectively with engineers and project teams, and demonstrate a proactive attitude toward learning advanced civil and piping design techniques. This person is organized, adaptable, and committed to quality and accuracy in every deliverable.

Must Haves:

• Associate’s Degree in Engineering Technology, Computer-Aided Design, or a related field OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Minimum 1 year of Civil 3D experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Understanding of Civil Survey data.
• Hands-on experience in pipeline and site civil design/drafting, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively within a large project execution team.
• Familiarity with document and data management.
• Commitment to collaborative, employee-owned culture.

Plusses:

• Exposure to erosion and sediment control calculations.
• Knowledge of quantity take-offs and bill of materials.
• 2-5 YOE

Day-to-day:

Insight Global is seeking a Civil CAD Tech. You will focus on creating civil alignment sheets, erosion and sediment control plans, and site civil layout plans for oil and gas pipelines. They will collaborate closely with civil engineers and CADD staff, providing support through AutoCAD Civil 3D. The role involves performing calculations for erosion and sediment control and assisting engineers with quantity take-offs for the bill of materials. In addition to these core tasks, the technician will work on developing skills in site civil design and 3D piping design, while ensuring proper document and data management. Flexibility is key, as they may also perform other duties as needed to support project execution
