Overview
Our large energy client is developing a centralized Project Management Office (PMO) to enhance consistency, efficiency, and outcomes across electric distribution and transmission projects. This role supports wildfire mitigation efforts, which include both short-term operational work and long-term strategic initiatives. The Project Manager II will lead projects ranging from vegetation management and maintenance coordination to large-scale utility construction and renewable energy programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage wildfire mitigation projects across two primary tracks:
- Operational Risk Mitigation: Oversee short-duration work such as vegetation management and field maintenance
- Strategic Capital Projects: Lead long-term utility construction and electric transmission initiatives
- Deliver full lifecycle project management—from planning and execution to closeout and stakeholder reporting
- Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering, field operations, and regulatory partners
- Track and report performance metrics, budget adherence, and risk mitigation outcomes
- Develop dashboards and KPIs to monitor project health and drive continuous improvement
- Ensure alignment with organizational goals, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 8 years of project management experience in the utility sector, with a focus on wildfire mitigation, electric transmission, or renewable energy
- Proven ability to manage both short-term operational work and multi-year capital projects
- Experience leading utility construction projects with budgets ranging from a few million to $25M
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies and financial oversight
- Proficiency in SAP, Business Objects, MS Excel, and SharePoint
- Bachelor’s degree required
