Senior Machinist

Overview

i3 is looking for a Senior Machinist to join our growing team in Huntsville, AL. 

Responsibilities

• Interface directly with customer and read engineering drawings to produce unique precision parts to contribute to a variety of projects in an ever changing, rapid paced R&D environment.
• Set up, install and operate machine tool equipment for fabrication operations (including but not limited to band saw, lathes, drill presses, milling machines and or surface grinders).
• Set up and operate multi-purpose computerized numerically-controlled (CNC) machines to perform any combination of machining operations.
• Obtain quotes for hardware/software/machinery/tools/etc. and assist when needed with building modifications and renovations.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

• Associate’s degree in relevant field is required. Additional experience may substitute for degree.
• Minimum 22 years of relevant experience.
• Prior experience reading engineering drawings and CAD models to produce unique precision part is required.
• Prior experience in programing, setup, and operation of a variety of machines including 3-axis CNC mills, CNC mill-turns, manual mills and manual lathes is required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
• U. S. Citizenship is required.

• The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Regular i3 hours are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday, however, additional hours may be required on occasion. Regular and punctual attendance is required.
