What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transportation Specialist position at Interfaith Community Services?
WHAT YOU WILL DO: This position is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of clients in a Substance Use Disorder Program to and from various community appointments.
- Assists passengers in and out vehicle, including those with physical limitations
- Secures passengers’ wheelchairs and assist disabled passengers in and out of the vehicle
- Observes traffic laws and regulations
- Ensures clients have safely entered facility before leaving
- Maintains and updates transportation calendar; schedule and select routes and travel times so clients arrive for appointments on time, and are picked up within a reasonable period of time after appointments are completed
- Maintains contact with clients and staff for appointment and schedule changes
- Maintains order and discipline in the vehicle; retain documentation of maintenance records
- Reports problematic client behavior or disruption of service to supervisor
- Lock and secure vehicle when leaving unattended; check to ensure no passengers are still in the vehicle before leaving unattended
- Maintains daily record of mileage and number of passengers transported
- Cleans and services the vehicle with fuel; report vehicle deficiencies immediately for repair and maintenance
- Keeps facility hallways and common areas clear of debris, wheelchairs, etc.
- Ensures facilities are maintained in a clean and orderly fashion
- Participates in all staff meetings and trainings
- Provides support to residential staff when not transporting clients
- Perform additional duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION
- 1 years of licensed driving experience with valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance required
- 1 years of transportation related experience required (rideshare, courier, delivery driver, etc.)
- Experience working with severely mentally ill, substance use disorders and homeless populations preferred
